Light blogging

Friends,

I've been in Florida, bumping into your grandparents, pool-sitting, and being terrifically over/underdressed for all occasions. Apologies for being neglectful.

For all matters Middle East, I urge you to check out Jeffrey Goldberg's blog at the Atlantic. I am, frankly, quite fed with the conversation happening, the one in which George W. Bush and Barack Obama place (nearly) the exact same parameters for Arab-Israeli peace, but somehow Obama's terms are nefarious because he's a democrat, black, or a shrewd thinker. Even my old friends are coming out of the woodwork to e-mail blast me about how Obama's ME policy is based on the leanings of Rashid Khalidi and teachings of Jeremiah Wright. It's such poppycock, I can't stand it.

Moreover, I'm sorry the world didn't end for those who were hoping it might. Let's pray for less disappointment. After all, it's almost summer, OBL is dead, freedom is on the march, and Bon Iver's new album is delightful!

For those in need of something smart to chew on, check out Charlie LeDuff's disquieting piece about Detroit. It's a few months old, but worth your time.
